Southern California Edison recognizes community leaders

IRWINDALE, CA: Southern California Edison (SCE) employees, managers and executives recognized the accomplishments of noteworthy community leaders, business leaders and organizations at its fourth annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration held at the utility's Customer Technology Application Center.

The annual event celebrated the rich cultural diversity in Southern California and recognized the accomplishments and contributions of Asian Pacific Americans.
 "It is a wonderful tradition at Southern California Edison to celebrate and honor our corporate and community partners who contribute so much to our diverse communities," said Barbara J. Parsky, senior vice president, Corporate Communications, Edison International, SCE's parent company. "This event helps increase the awareness of the many important accomplishments of Asian Pacific Americans."

SCE presented the Leadership Award to Susan Ahn Cuddy, a Korean American pioneer whose influence inspired the leadership and service of many young Asian Pacific Americans. The Corporate Award was given to Seafood City, a successful family-owned business that has made significant contributions to the Filipino community.

The Little Tokyo Service Center earned the Community Service Award for its commitment and dedication to serving the Japanese American and Asian Pacific American communities in Southern California for nearly 30 years. Senator Carol Liu delivered the keynote address at the event.

Ted Chen, NBC4 television news anchor, served as master of ceremonies. Chen anchors the Saturday edition of "Today in LA" and the "Sunday LA" program on NBC4's digital channel.
