‘Young Indians abroad should join in taking our growth ahead’

NEW DELHI: Observing that India has emerged as a strong nation in the last 20 years with more promises and “optimism”, here invited the strong Indian Diaspora especially the younger generation to join hands in taking the growth process ahead.

“In last 20 years we have emerged as a new India with a can-do attitude,” he said at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here, asking the younger lot abroad to “engage” in nurturing this positive vibe.

He also felt that in recent years the optimism level is high among majority of the Indians as they believe that their children can have a much better future then them.

Prime Minister’s adviser and telecom czar Sam Pitroda felt the younger generation abroad need to connect with their roots and realize the potential India holds for them and for the rest of the world.

“Send the younger ones from USA and other parts to India to experience the life and the opportunities available here,” he said, asking the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi to “take this agenda forward”.

He said that though things are still very “complex” in India for anyone to realize their dreams, the country is making progress despite several odds.

Inviting the young Indians abroad to visit the country, Singapore’s Deputy Speaker Indranee Rajah, who is of Indian origin, said it is the “emotional and cultural” connections with India that “tells them who they are”.

Ruby Dhalla, an MP from Canada of Indian origin, also spoke on the occasion.
