Air India recognizes travel agents with annual awards

CHICAGO: At a gala dinner banquet held on March 1 at Meadows Club, Air India Chicago office presented annual sales performance awards to its appointed travel agents (consolidators) recognizing their role in promoting the national Indian airliner in this part of the world .

The event was attended by a large number of travel agents from across Midwest and other invited guests. Katherine Thorat, Air India Sales Manager, welcomed the guests and emceed the event. Air India Chicago Manager Rishikant Singh thanked travel agents for their support. He emphasized that honoring travel agents with sales performance awards is an acknowledgement of their support.

Rishikant also introduced Riwo Norbhu, Regional Manager Americas, who had flown in from New York for the event. Both Rishikant and Riwo Norbhu presented awards to winning agents along with Katherine Thorat and other staff members of AI Chicago office.

The Online booking portal Orbit topped among all agents followed by Air Tours. Devon Travel and Sky Bird Travel achieved over 3 million sales performance. Krisbi Travel, Aero Travel, RK Travel, Evia Travel, Direct Express Tours, Riya Travel, Skylink Travel and Natraj Travel had also notched commendable performances.

While the award presentation was ceremonial as ever, the entire event was well planned in a different way. The guests were given the choice to occupy the table in a surprise manner. Dinner tables were named after Indian cities. Soon after the award ceremony, Katherine Thorat announced a visual quiz and asked all the tables to participate.

The visual quiz was a beautiful compilation of world tourist destinations. Twenty picture slides were shown for each beautiful tourist or other wonderful destination of the world. Each table was given Quiz answer sheet to identify the tourist destinations. The Quiz was most interesting and every table participated in it.

Members of Evia Travel and RK Travel from Hyderabad desk won the visual quiz with correct answers. The second quiz and game was announced after the dinner. Both Rishikant and Katherine presented the second game. Gifts were given to winners of both the quiz and game. The entire event was a refreshing treat for the guests as many tapped the floor for a quick dance on music tunes.

Most seniors and owners of all travel agents were present for the event.

Mafat Patel of Air Tours, Vikrambhai Sevak and Masoodbhai of Skybird Travel, Birju Bhagat of Krisbi Travel, Chawla of Devon Travel, Asgharali of Aero Travel, Rizwan of RK Travel, Siddiqui Abdul of Evia Travel, Deepak Shah of Natraj Travel, Prince of Imperial Travel, Anis of Maharaja Travel and others were accompanied by all their staff members.
