CHICAGO: The misuse of social media is getting viral and one of the recent victims happens to be Air India, the national carrier of India.
A sort of staff notification purported to be issued by Air India management asserts that the carrier is closing down from October 1 2018 as per Government (?) order.  It claims the decision of the government followed a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors of the company as well officials from the ministry that Air India has become too unsustainable to operate properly due to poor profit margins and stagnant growth for years. “The government is unable to bail out Air India owing to low profitably of future returns”, the purported letter suggests.

Air India sources here are totally taken aback at this “malicious propaganda against Air India”. They categorically deny any move to shut down Air India now or in the future. They assert that Air India of late has been faring better and this type of propaganda can at best be deemed mischievous by some interested party or parties to pull down Air India.
