FREMONT, CA: Realizing the American dream, while honoring the strong roots and culture from the country of origin – This is the motto of Festival of Globe (FOG) India Day Fair and Parade being held from August 18th and 19that 39439 Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont, CA. Organized by Federation of Indo Americans (FIA) of Northern California, this largest celebration of democracy coincides with India’s Independence Day. This year FOG continues the celebrations and tradition that has been part of Fremont culture for past 26 years.

In FOG India Day Parade and Mela thousands of people are expected to join and enjoy this largest celebration of democracy. There will be cultural programs, free health fair, Food Fest, kid’s corner, and biggest ever grand parade on August 19thwith famous Bollywood celebrities Tusshar Kapoor, Tanishaa Mukerji and Manoj Tiwari as ‘Grand Marshals’. People can visit, eat, and shop at over hundred booths. The admission is FREE for Mela and Parade for both the days.
India Day Fair will showcase some of the best presentations in dance and music. This year, there are multiple categories of dance performances. Over 150 local dance groups will compete in Classical, Folk, Bollywood, Contemporary, Hip-Hop and others. Each category winner will be awarded with a prize. Contestants will participate in their age groups, divided in 5yrs – 11yrs, 12yrs – 18yrs, and Adults.
The Fair will feature a surfeit of delicious cuisines, ranging from different regions of India. North Indian, South Indian, Savory snacks will be served by over 20 food booths organized by the best known restaurants and caterers in the Bay Area.
Grand Parade boasts of over 50 floats representing a wide cross section of community, ranging from Indian regional cultural communities to Bay Area organizations. Parade runs through sections of Fremont areas and is a spectacle to enjoy. Roads are blocked to facilitate the smooth and comfortable viewing of the parade. This has become a ritual for families to spend a summer Sunday, watching their favorite celebrities and enjoy the Fair.
This year India celebrates 72nd Independence Day. FOG India Day Fair and Parade coincides with India’s Independence celebrations. This provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate the event and appreciate the value of freedom, both in their country of origin – India as well as oldest democracy and land of dreams – USA.
