Asian American Reception for Dy Mayor Andrea Zopp

CHICAGO: Asian American Advisory Council hosted an elegant reception for Chicago Deputy Mayor Andrea Zopp to provide an opportunity for the Asian American leaders to interact with her in identifying ways in which the community can be a proactive partner in shaping the destiny of the city of Chicago.

The reception was held at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago on August 24.
Deputy Mayor Andrea Zopp, who is also the Chief Neighborhood Development Officer, in her remarks thanked the Asian American leaders for their attendance and outlined the meaningful role Asian Americans play in contributing to the upliftment of the city.

Zopp also talked about the central vision of Mayor Rahm Emmanuel in fighting some of the intractable problems faced by the city and applauded the resolve and the will of the Mayor in building stronger neighborhoods, communities, improving schools, reducing crime and ushering an all-round economic growth and improvement in the quality of life in the city.

Smita Shah, Chair of the Chicago-Delhi Sister City Committee, introduced Deputy Mayor Zopp and apprised her of the Indian Americans’ deep commitment to lending support to Mayor Emmanuel’s mission for the city. She said the meeting with Deputy Mayor Zopp represents an outstanding opportunity for the Asian American leaders to interact and identify innovative solutions to ameliorate the city. She said that under the leadership of Mayor Emmanuel the city continues to rise from the depths of despair to heights of breathtaking prosperity.

Keerthi Kumar Ravoori said Mayor Rahm Emmanuel is truly a steadfast champion of the City of Chicago and added that under his leadership it augurs comprehensive economic growth. Iftekhar Shareef thanked Deputy Mayor Andrea Zopp for the opportunity to interact and in sharing valuable insights and pledged the community’s commitment to working together with her office in advancing the Mayor’s goals.

Among the attendees were Babu Marsha Patel, Dr Ashish Sen and Hina Trivedi.
