SAN JOSE, CA: On an invitation received from the White House for Christmas celebrations, Avtar Singh Chahal along with his son, Gurbaksh Chahal from San Jose, had a brief meeting with the First Lady and the President Obama in the White House. He thanked both of them for their support to the Sikh community for Oak Creek Gurdwara shooting and urged for tight gun control in the wake of the latest Sandy Hook School shooting in Connecticut.
Mr Chahal first had chance to talk to the First Lady, Michelle Obama and thanked her for personally going to console the entire Sikh community at Oak Creek Gurdwara. Then he had a talk with President Obama. Mr Chahal said “Mr President, the Sikh community love you and they are your friends and on behalf of all Sikh community over the globe, I convey their thanks for your support you had extended to them at a very critical time to boost their morale for Oak Creek tragedy. The President said, “Thank you for the kind words and let me see how I can best serve the American people to avoid any further incidents in future”
Avtar Singh Chahal is also appearing on one 60 seconds “beproud.org” documentary to end hate on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and other channels for which his son Gurbaksh Chahal has taken an initiative to show the identity of Sikhs to the entire world so that they should not be further target of mis-identity in future.
Gurbaksh Chahal has founded beProud foundation which has been endorsed by many celebrities from Bollywood and Hollywood and prominent persons world wide to end hate and love each other.
