Bhartiya Senior Citizen Group of Chicago & Manpasand hosts Desi Fest

CHICAGO: A senior body for Indians, the Bhartiya Senior Citizen Group of Chicago (BSCC), serving seniors and Manpasand, a known name in the entertainment world here, hosted an action-packed cultural presentation  ‘The Desi-Fest’on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Rana Reagan community center in Carol Stream, a Chicagosuburb.

Many figures from medical, sports entertainment, politics, teaching and spiritual area were present at The Desi-Fest. In the past, the BSCC has held vaccination fairs to make sure all members can get vaccinated without going through online appointments and unnecessary hurdles.

This year after being locked inside during the pandemic for so long, all  members were able to come out and socialize at The Desi Fest, an Indian fair, with live entertainment, shopping, food and much more. Everything was complimentary for all members of the BSCC. This fair was safe with maintaining CDC instructed guidelines.

Manpasand, owned by Ms. Bhavna Modi, managed all the festivities that took place. Mrs. Modi’s hard work and extraordinary event planning brought a great success.

The entertainment portion of the evening kicked off with the Master of Ceremony Mrs. Neelam Desai .Laughter is the ultimate medicine they say. Mayuri Patel, a standup comedian made everyone laugh with her extraordinary sense of humor.

Favorite singers Rex D’Souza, Ms. Shilpi Paul and Ms. Kausha Pandya rocked the stage with nonstop live singing and music. Their melodious voices kept The BSCC members glued to their seats.

President of B SCC Haribhai Patel also announced the organization would be holding a Covid-19 Booster shot clinic for all eligible members, nonmembers and for their family from September 20th per CDC guidelines.

The BSCC presented awards to those who made a huge difference in the community with their selfless acts and services during the pandemic. The following is a list for those who were honored for their outstanding performance in their surrounding communities: Community Engagement and Leadership Award: Kamlesh Shah and Alisha Bedi of The Rana-Reagan Pharmacy; Heart of our Community Award: Nimish Jani; Character Counts Award: Jasbir Suga of Suga Builders; Shining Star Award: Ashok Punjabi of Chicago; Import Pandemic Hero Award: Dr. Syed Naveed and Ibrahim Alimirah; Free COVID Care Extra Mile Award: J.P. Patel and Making a Difference Award: Seth Lewis.
