CHICAGO: Bhartiya Senior Citizens (BSC) of Chicago celebrated India Day August 17 at Rana Regan Community Center in Carol Stream with more than 700 BSC members and invited guests attending the event.

The occasion also had added significance in that it was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of a community leader Shali Kumar coming to the USShal Kumar Shali Kumar owns AVG groups and heads the Republican Hindu Coalition. He has given a 60,000 sq. ft. facility to the Hindu/Indian American community so that it could host events there.

The BSC members also celebrated Janmashtami to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. Bollywood singer Rex D’Souza and his group performed old and new songs In the light of the 73rd Independence Day of India.BSC JANMASTHMI e1567060697943

RHC head Shali Kumar addressed the gathering live via Skype with Stephen Kevin Bannon who, an American media executive, political activist, strategist and investment banker. He had served as White House Chief Strategist in the administration of US President Donald Trump.

Bannon discussed live with Shali Kumar about the current situation in Kashmir following the Indian government’s scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution. He also wished the Indian American Community on the occasion of Independence Day.
