A front ranking community activist and a City of Chicago Resident, Sohan P Joshi lashed out at Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot for her failed leadership, especially from view point of Indian community affairs by not participating in any of India Day Parades for the past 4 years.
Joshi faulted Lori Lightfoot, Chicago Mayor for facilitating the presentation of the Anti India resolution last year on March 24,2021 in the City Council by flouting the Council rules. He further said Lori Lightfoot had not attended a single Indo – American Community event during her entire term of office, which is ending in two months.
He pitched for a new leader “Let us elect a New Mayor for Chicago in February 2023 who has proven inclusive leadership and who can improve Chicago on many fronts, added Now any efforts in the last few days of LORI ‘s term to woo the Indian Americans in Chicago are futile, observed Joshi.
“We need a Mayor like Eric Adams of New York who has declared Diwali as a holiday for New York City including City schools and educational institutions. Our Indian American Community should unitedly BOYCOTT Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and all her functions & events to protest the continued disrespect she has displayed to our community over the years. Any overtures now by Lori Lightfoot is only a BAND AID appeasement reiterated “Sohan Joshi.
Sohan P. Joshi, FIA Chicago Trustee, Former NFIAChairman and First Indian American to stand for Illinois Governor in 2000 is popularly known as Mayor of Devon. He is a resident of City of Chicago for more than 45 years and also worked for the City of Chicago.
