MCMINNVILLE, Tennessee: International support is growing quickly for Cauvery Calling, the historic initiative launched in September by Sadhguru, founder of the global Isha Foundation.
“Cauvery Calling is a carefully crafted, demonstrable model to revive the soil, revitalize rivers, and increase farmer income – not just in India, but in the entire tropical world,” says Sadhguru.

Unique in that it is actually an economic plan with significant ecological impact, farmers in southern India’s severely distressed Cauvery river basin will be assisted in growing and planting 2.4 billion trees in a transition to agroforestry, raising their incomes from 300 per cent to 800 per cent and revitalizing the river upon which 84 million people depend. Massive outreach efforts are underway to raise awareness and funds through donation of trees. Over 45 million trees have already been donated in the first two months of the campaign.

Kicked off with an exciting two-week motorcycle rally led by Sadhguru, there was instantly popular and media support with wide recognition of the importance of the campaign. An unprecedented 1200 media outlets covered Cauvery Calling, with key international endorsements including Leonardo Di Caprio and his foundation.

The initiative has enthusiastic support from tens of millions of people in India, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian state governments. And there is keen worldwide interest in the outcome. Sadhguru recently spoke to United Nations leaders who “have been closely following” the progress, indicating that once Cauvery Calling is successful in India, “they will take it across the rest of the tropical world”.
