The Indian Consulate of San Francisco in the United States on June 26, Saturday celebrated the seventh International Day of Yoga (IDY 2021) at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco.

Dr TV Nagendra Prasad, Consul General of India, SFO welcomed the participants and stressed yoga’s potential to provide both health and happiness by improving the physical and mental well-being of people, especially given the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

 The world is opening up and looking forward to hosting many in-person events by the Consulate, added Ambassador Prasad.

As part of the celebrations, a Yoga session was conducted by Anil Surpur & team from Yoga Bharati, Bay area. Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain was the special guest at the event. Over 50 people spread their mats at the iconic landmark here and performed Yoga asanas keeping in mind social distancing guidelines to celebrate the International Yoga Day as the city opens up following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The app aims to make learning Sanskrit easy and entertaining by ‘gamifying’ it. It has been developed by Bengaluru-based company Gamapp sportswizz. The app is available on Google Play Store.IMG_5792
