PHAGWARA: Congress stalwart Sohan Lal Banga has taken over as Chairman of Improvement Trust Phagwara with full fanfare. A large number of party workers and leaders, including former Union minister Santosh Chowdhary , former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann, Punjab Scheduled Caste Land Development and Finance Corporation Chairman Mohan Lal Sood, senior IAS officer Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, former PPCC general secretary Harjit Singh Parmar, cinema industry tycoon Sukhjit Singh Parmar(Tari), senior Congress leaders Inderjit Duggal, Vijay Sondhi,Youth Congress leader Saurav Khullar and Councillor Taranjit Singh Walia joined the coronation ceremony.

A red carpet was rolled out for Banga August 28 as he took charge. In an informal maiden chat with the media, Banga declared that he will work dedicatedly for the all-round integrated development of the town. He thanked Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for his appointment.

Earlier, ADC Babita Kler had acted as Trust Chairperson.
