Event on Punjabi culture, heritage to be held

CHICAGO: An event featuring Punjabi culture and heritage will be hosted by the Punjab Sports Club July 7 at Busse Woods forest preserve, Elk Grove Village, a Chicago suburb.

The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the club and will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will feature sports, Mehandi entertainment, and free food.

Another big highlight of the event is the likely presence of a host of dignitaries many of whom have formally confirmed the attendance According the Club sources, the confirmed and invited dignitaries include Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Congressman Raja Krishnamurthy, Illinois Secretary of State Jessie White, Cook County President Tony Preckwinkle, Consul General of India Sudhakar Dalela, Oakbrook Mayor Dr Gopal Lalmalani, and Mayor Tom Daley,

A good number of community leaders from major South Asian communities, and social and religious organizations expected at this colorlful event.
