Fund raising dinner at Hindu Temple

A performance by Anila Sinha Foundation student
CHICAGO: The Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago (HTGC) has scheduled its semi-annual fund raising dinner on Saturday May 7. This will be the first of two fund raising dinners that the temple organizes every year and the theme of this program is aptly called “Bhoori Virala Danam” meaning “please donate generously”.
The event will start with the social hour at 6 p.m followed by the main program at 7 p.m. After the invocation by temple priests and opening remarks, there will be two dance items as part of the evening’s entertainment – one is a Kathak number performed by Anila Sinha Foundation followed by a Bharatanatyam dance performance by the Kripa Bhaskaran and students of Natyarpana Dance School, Milwaukee.
As the guests start to enjoy the sumptuous dinner served in banquet style, the musical extravaganza “Sur Dhaaraa” by Suranjali group will begin. This is a Bollywood style music program with Suresh Israni’s group accompanied by Hitesh Master and his “Orchestra SaReGaMa”.
Bhima Reddy, a past president of the temple, said that funds are mainly needed for “Sri Rama Gharbhalayam roof and wall repairs”, “Ramalaya Mahamantapam lighting renovation” and “Renovation and painting of Rama temple exterior”.
The cost of all three projects is estimated to exceed $100,000. HTGC President Prasanna Reddy and finance committee chair Lakshman Agadi appealed to all devotees to attend this dinner and donate generously to make this event a grand success.
