The Seventh Annual Congressional International Women’s Day hosting 20 top global women of excellence from across five continents was held in an elegant ceremony that followed a powerful roundtable meet on women’s empowerment on March 9-10 at Waterford Convention Center, Elmhurst, a south side suburb of Chicago.
The event was organized by Congressman Danny Davis with a group of Indian American community activists headed by Vijay Prabhakar in the presence of hundreds of enthusiastic people that included many elected officials and community elite
One of the most honored women activists was Santosh Kumar of Metropolitan Asian Family Services who is nicknamed Mother Teresa of Chicago for her laudable services to the most deserving section of the community seniors. A book eulogizing her services was launched by Indian Consul General in Chicago Neeta Bhushan.
Besides Santosh Kumar, others who were honored at the event included Aabha Chaudary Founder, of Anugraha Foundation New Delhi, India, Dr. Abha Agrawal, Founder of A4 Clinics, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, Promila Kumar, Founder and Executive Director of Sanjeevani, Naperville, Illinois, Parimala Patri, Founder-CEO of Cosmic Moon in Baltimore, Maryland, Smita Shah, President and CEO of Spaan Tech in Chicago and Gulshan Bakhsh of Christ Church of Pakistan, Schaumburg, Illinois.
Yet another highlight of the Event was the institution of the Lily Prabhakar- Lady Of Love Prize and Congressman Davis presented the LILY PRABHAKAR-LADY OF LOVE Prize 2019 to Gerard Moorer, President, Young Democrats of Illinois.
On the occasion, Rep Davis presented the USA Africa Chamber Of Commerce‘s For the Sake Of Women Award to Dr. Clarence Beals, President,Jordan’s Dreams . India’s Consul General at Chicago Ms Neeta Bhushan presented the first copy of “Mother Teresa Of Chicago : Ma Santosh Kumar “ book to MsLalithaKumaramangalam, Director, India Foundation, New Delhi.
Congressman Danny Davis, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthy along with China’s Consul at Chicago Ms Qin Lee launched India Tribune‘s New digital platform RAJ KARAN.
It was a star studded evening showcasing pioneering Women with their path breaking Initiatives. Among the main sponsors were Air India, GSA, Centurion Security Services and India Tribune
