Grand celebration of Father’s Day by Indian Seniors of Chicago

CHICAGO: The Indian Seniors of Chicago meeting was held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 through Zoom Video Conferencing with about 140 members participating.  Dilipbhai Patel was the program coordinator of the entire meeting.

The President of Indian Seniors of Chicago, Dr. Narasimhabhai Patel welcomed the survey members and wished them good health. Members asked all to follow government guidelines regarding Corona. He hoped that tours and picnics would be possible in the near future.

Mrs. Hemaben Shastri started the meeting by praising all religions.  Bhupendra and Geeta Suthar recited Shri Hanuman Chalisa. Shri Bachubhai Patel gave a beautiful speech on the life and poetry of Adyan Shankaracharya.

Shri Kirit Singh Zala gave a thought provoking speech about the great saint of Gujarat Shri Punit Maharaj working during day and doing bhajan-kirtan at night. Many of his own composed bhajans are still popular today. His contribution in the establishment and management of the well-known magazine “Janakalyan” of Gujarat is special. Punit Ashram has been started in many places. Is. He died in 1965 at the age of 54.

Father’s Day was then celebrated. Mrs. Hema Shastri read some shayaris about the place and importance of father in family and society.  Shri Bhupendra Suthar sang the song ‘A to sachhaikibhagwanhai, dhartikeroop, mambapki ye vighatakipahchanhain’ explaining the importance of father in beautiful tones.

This was followed by Arvind Kotak wishing the members whose birthday falls in the month of June. Shri Bhupendra Suthar recited the names of the members whose birthday falls in the month of June.  Arvind Kotke sang ‘Bar Bar Ye Din Aaye Tum Jiyo Hazaro Sal’ song ‘Happy Birthday’.

The secretary of the institute Shri Hirabhai Patel thanked participants who participated in the program that featured songs by 11 senior siblings. The treasurer of the organization C. V. Dasai informed that most of the public institutions would now be opened in the fifth phase of concessions. It is no longer mandatory to wear a mask.

Dilip Patel gave details possible summer picnic in the month of July stating more information will be given to each member after approval is received. Arvind Kotake related jokes making members laugh. President Dr. Narasinhbhai Patel thanked speakers; seniors who took an active part in the entertainment program and Dilip Patel for successfully managing the entire zoom meeting.
