Grayslake Hindu Temple celebrates Ram Navmi

CHICAGO: Hindu Mandir of Lake County, Grayslake, a north side suburb of Chicago celebrated Shree Ram Navami April 13 with great zeal and enthusiasm especially by involving more than 25 kids in the event.
This temple encourages the participation of the younger generation as they are the ones who are going to preserve India’s religion and culture.

The program started with the singing of bhajans and the chanting of Ramayana by the kids. Later, Athul Soni and Kamlesh Desai sang more bhajans. Pandit Ganesh and Pandit Anil Joshi performed Sankalpam, Puja, and Abhishekam of Lord Ram along with the sponsor devotees. Before noon, baby Ram brought to the shrine with the chanting of Vedic Mantras
Yogesh Pandey welcomed baby Ram with Ram Stuti, sounds of bells and conch. This turned the environment in the shrine very pious and spiritual. The beautifully decorated baby Ram was placed in the cradle. Devotees enjoyed rocking baby Ram’s cradle.

Pandit Joshi delivered a brief discourse on the importance of Ram Avatar. He also talked about how one can live with dignity in different circumstances and maintain good character, principles, and carry out responsibilities by following Shri Ram as the role model. He also highlighted the relationship between Lord Ram and Lord Shiva.
Maha Mangalarati was followed by distribution of Maha Prasadam to all the devotees. Shammi Dhall thanked all the children, sponsors and volunteers for their active participation, support, and services. He also thanked the temple priests for their untiring services. He distributed gifts to the children with the blessings of Pandit Ganesh.
