ORANGE, CA: SikhLens has announced that the enigmatic Hollywood actor Guru Singh will be emceeing the Opening Night festivities of the 2011 Sikh Arts and Film Festival to be held from November 18 – 20 at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

Singh, well known as “Ajeet” from the NBC series Outsourced, is a talented actor who proudly represents his identity. As a turbaned Sikh, his image is unique and often specific roles are limited, but he has carved a niche for himself and admits that he would not have gotten the role of Ajeet without the “turban on [his] head.”

As a Texas native, Singh realized his passion for acting after performing in his high school’s version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In college, he balanced his interest in performing with a mother-friendly dedication to computer-related work, graduating from the University of Houston with a B.B.A. in Theatre and Management Information Systems.

Singh credits his success to a positive and inspirational attitude. He landed the role of Ajeet within one year of moving to Los Angeles and attending regular auditions. He also continues to hone his art by actively participating in various aspects of the acting industry, including reading plays, taking classes, and producing short films.
