WASHINGTON DC: This summer, seven outstanding undergraduates will be joining Hindu American Foundation(HAF) summer internship program in Washington DC to take on the most pressing issues that face the Hindu American community today.
The HAF summer internship provides interns with a taste of what it means to advocacy for the Hindu American community.
The students will experience the workings of Congressional offices, become dharma ambassadors, and work alongside HAF staff on issues such as immigration, Hindu human rights, and education reform
The participating students are Shoumik Dabir of University of Texas, Dev Desai of Marquette University,
Naman Gupta of Emory University, Komal Kamdar of University of Virginia, Kali Luthra of American University, Nidhi Patel of University of Michigan, and Akesh Shah of Boston University.
The 2019 internship program is made possible by the generosity of Professor Dinesh O. Shah who visited Washington DC last year and saw the enthusiasm of HAF interns He envisioned a future in which these interns may return to the US capital as congressmen, senators, or ambassadors. With this hope in mind, Shah made a donation to cover the expenses for all of HAF’s 2019 interns. He is optimistic that other members of the HAF community will join him in donatingand achieving the goal of sponsoring the HAF internship for the next 5 years.
