Hindi Diwas to be celebrated on Sept 14

GUR KAUR-webCHICAGO: Hindi Lovers Club with a huge support from the Indian Consulate in Chicago has slated hosting of Hindi Diwas with a view to creating wider awareness and promoting the Indian national language – Hindi – in this part of the world

Hindi Lovers Club this time has enlisted the support not only from the Consulate but also from a number of other ethnic Indian associations like UP Association, Bihar Association, Orissa Association, Maharashtra Association and a good number of Indian businessmen, according to Gurbachan Kaur, a spokesperson.

Ms Kaur said that the event is slated at Ashyana Banquet Hall in Downers Grove, a south west suburb of Chicago, on Sunday September 14. Besides dinner, there will be an entertainment program with the help of local artists.

Earlier in a dispatch in this paper it was reported that the event would be a part of India Day celebrations but Gurbachan Kaur said that this is specifically for “our national language Hindi” and India Consulate has been kind enough to extend its patronage to it

The Club has been active in its mission to promote Hindi here and one of the offshoots is the setting up of Hindi Kavi Munch. It organizes frequent events and they are very well received by members of the Indian community.
