CHICAGO: The National Indian American Coalition, a recently formed organization of Indian Americans with political overtones, has announced hosting a meet in Chicago coming July but this meet would be with a big difference. Unlike many usual political gatherings, the meet will have good dose of entertainment from renowned singers and artists.

Shalabh Kumar, Chairman and CEO of AVG group of companies, who has taken a lead with a few others in initiating the new move, said that the main aim is to bring second generation Indian Americans into mainstream politics and this could be done more easily if some fun and entertainment are twined with somewhat serious types of meets.

The National Indian American Coalition, Meet and Greet slated for Saturday July 16 at Monty Hall in Bensenville, will have prominent political bigwigs from Republican Party besides top notch entertainers from UK with Bollywood connection. Shalabh Kumar said that multi-platinum chart busting Bollywood singers RDB and Britain Signature are set to rock Chicagoland on the day that should provide an excellent opportunity to second generation Indian Americans to learn the political system, network and have fun at the same time.

Kumar was addressing an ethnic Indian media meet at Viceroy of India Restaurant. He was accompanied by Prem Lalvani, Chairman of the Asian American Coalition, Shrinarayan Chandak of United Enterprises and Bhailal Patel, former president of the National Federation of Indian Associations. He briefed the media about the basic objectives behind the meet and the key issues that would crop up during the discussions at the meet.

Among the political bigwigs who are expected to be present will include Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina, local Republican leaders and quite possibly a 2012 Presidential hopeful. A number of Indian American community activists and businessmen will be attending. The meet will deliberate upon key issues concerning India, Indo-US relations, Indian American community at large and topics of interest for second generation, he added.

Emphasizing on the importance of this show Lalvani said, “This would be houseful show showcasing entertainment hits to political leaders.” Sponsored by AVG, the show “National Indian American Coalition, Meet and Greet” will be compered by Pooja Kumar, Miss India 2007.

“The event spans diverse genres of entertainments from Bollywood to Hollywood and a carnival at prominent venue along with presenting a guest appearance of Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina. NAIC Meet and Greet has evidently something for everyone in the family,” said Chandak.
