CHICAGO: Indian Consul General Dr Ausaf Sayeed may have limited success in getting rival and competing factions within the Indian community getting united for the good of the community at large, but he can definitely have satisfaction in seeing them one piece during Flag Hoisting ceremony at Chicago Daley Plaza on the Indian Independence Day.

The ceremony primarily at the instance of Chicago Indian Consulate was well attended by community elites and members of general public in the morning of August 15. The near two hours event went very well with only a few relevant speeches and live entertainment program by local artists and many second generation Indians.

Besides reading of the message from the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee by Dr Ausaf Sayeed and concluding vote of thanks by Consul OP Meena, the other highlight was a speech in Hindi by Lokesh Muni who applauded the role of Indians abroad, especially in this country, in contributing to the welfare of society.

Various Indian cultural organizations did a remarkable job in presenting varied Indian culture thru classical dances and songs. Child artists were galore and the program had great measure of success.
