Kajal Aggarwal beats up crew members!

Ajay Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal

Ajay Devgn is famous in B-town for the innumerable pranks that he has played on his co-stars, directors and other crew members! This time around his target was his pretty co-star Kajal Aggarwal from ‘Singham’. On one of the days of the movie’s Goa schedule, the actor told the naive Kajal to thrash goons for a particular scene. He made her believe that she was a modern day heroine and handed over a belt to lash out at the goons.

Unaware of the actor’s antics, the southern beauty innocently went ahead and gave the shot, with Ajay quipping “Maro Maro” in the background to encourage her! It was only later when the entire unit started laughing that the actress realized what she had fallen prey to and how the camera wasn’t actually rolling. Thoroughly embarrassed, the actress then went around apologizing to all the people she had beaten up!

Despite all the pranks, Kajal swears that she couldn’t have got a better first co-star and admired Ajay Devgn for his work and professionalism.

Beefy look

Incidentally, Ajay Devgn sports a beefy look in ‘Singham’ where he plays a tough cop from a village on the Maharashtra-Goa border who will be seen doing a lot of hand to hand combat, something one rarely gets to see in movies in this day and age of high gadgetry. Director Rohit Shetty therefore did not just want Ajay to develop a six pack which is easily achievable with injections and steroids; but get a more realistic, brawny physique that would ooze raw manliness.

Ajay’s trainer Prashant Saawant had a major role to play in ensuring this. He trained with the actor for three months; helping him losing weight and making him more lean and muscular. He got him to do a rigorous combination of weights and circuit super sets that incorporated all techniques including pushups and pull-ups. Prashant also oversaw Ajay’s diet and made sure he maintained a high-protein low-carb diet to get that desired look.

Luckily, it didn’t seem like a tough task given Ajay’s penchant for fitness and the fact that he already had a great physique! Fans of the actor can look forward to seeing him in a completely raw and desi action hero avatar!

15 Marathi actors

Since the backdrop of the movie is around Maharashtra, considering Ajay Devgn is seen playing a local Marathi cop, Rohit Shetty cast as many as 15 Marathi actors for the authenticity of movie. This star cast comprises of Ashok Saraf, Sachin Khedekar, Sonali Kulkarni, Anant Jogue, Vijay Patkar, Agasthya Dhanorkar, Suchitra Bandekar, Jayant Sawarkar, Suhasini Deshpande, Meghna Vaidya, Ashok Samarth, Kishore Nandlaskar, Ravindra Berde, Pradeep Welankar and Hemu Adhikari.

In fact, even composers Ajay-Atul, who are creating waves on the Marathi film music scenario, have been roped in for the music of the film.

Villain from South

Rohit signed none other than prominent south actor Prakash Raj to play the baddie in the movie. The three-time National Award winning actor was his first choice as he played the same role superbly in the original Tamil version which the movie is a remake of.

Prakash Raj was last seen playing the bad boy in ‘Wanted’ and has previously done Hindi films like ‘Shakti-The Power’ and ‘Khakee’.
