‘Kejriwal unable to run govt, looking at escape route’

Kejriwal unable to run govt, looking at escape routeNEW DELHI: BJP today took a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his threat to resign if the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed by the state Assembly, saying he is looking at an escape route as he is unable to run the government.

“He is sitting on the shoulder of the corrupt Congress government and trying to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill. It feels they (AAP) are unable to run the government and hence are looking for an exit,” senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters outside Parliament.

Kejriwal has threatened to resign if his pet anti-graft legislation was not passed by the state Assembly due to lack of support from other parties.

“I am astonished…you don’t need to threaten anybody for resigning. Just write the resignation letter and step down,” another BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said.

Kejriwal today met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and discussed various issues relating to the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Bringing the Jan Lokpal bill to contain corruption was a key election promise made to the voters by his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Congress and BJP have been maintaining that the Delhi government must get approval of the Home Ministry before tabling the bill in a special session of the Assembly, beginning February 13.–PTI
