LPU preparing IT students to become cyber security experts

PHAGWARA: Knowing that regularly advancing technology is there in all fields, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has added yet another globally accepted career enhancing certification program for its students.

LPU April 18 collaborated with the US- based Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) to provide an IT workforce certification program Cyber Security Analyst (CySA+) to its students.

The program applies analytics to networks and devices for preventing, detecting and combating cyber security threats. This program will help LPU students to become top cyber-security experts.
For this important collaboration, Chief Technology Evangelist Dr James Stanger; Vice- President (Asia Pacific) Dennis Kwok, Regional Director (India, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh) Pradipto Chakrabarty and, Head of Academic Alliance Varun Sud, all from CompTIA, were present at memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony. Executive Dean Dr Lovi Raj Gupta and Registrar Dr Monica Gulati represented LPU.

Addressing the students, Dr Stanger said: “IT industry is booming and it needs innovative students’ help. Whether you’re just starting your IT career or climbing the ranks of the IT industry, with ‘CompTIA’, you can do it all. Our certifications make sure that your skills are a match for whatever IT future lies ahead.”

In fact, technology is ranked as the number one source of the US jobs, and the number of open IT positions is expected to increase 17 per cent by 2022.
