LPU signs MoU with Shanghai college

PHAGWARA: Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Shanghai Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry (SHAFC) of China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration in academic and research-related activities, a varsity release said.

The scope of this important collaboration includes “development of joint research projects and to avail funding; exchange of academic information, students, faculty; and, organization/participation in joint seminars, conferences, workshops etc”.

A four-member Chinese delegation visited LPU under the leadership of President Wei Hua of SHAFC. President Weion the behalf of SHAFC and from LPU Registrar Dr Monica Gulati and Associate Director Division of International Affairs Aman Mittal signed the MoU between the two institutions.

On the occasion, Director at the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges Fei Guoqiang, Director of Academic Office Wang Tongguang, and Associate Professor Geng Yanxia from SHAFC and LPU Director General (Operations) Subhashish Majumdaar were also present.

In addition, development of articulations for twinning/joint programs, and allowing students to undertake part of the programme/course of study at each institution will also be there. These courses/programs, usually two to four weeks in duration, will facilitate visits by students and faculty to learn about the business environment and culture in the host country. In addition to various topics on business operations and culture, the course would include meetings with business executives, and visits to various industrial and business establishments.

SHAFC is the only higher vocational college in Shanghai which has distinct features in modern urban agriculture. It has a total area of 1,452 acres. The college has constructed six major groups with distinct agricultural features.
