BOSTON: TheShivalaya Temple of Greater Boston, Medford, Massachussets, organized Ma Vishal Bhagwati Jagran, a religious get together, May 17 with a large group of spiritual devotees.
Jagran is a holy event which consists of all night or until late night kirtan of the Mother Goddess Durga during which her devotees worship her by singing devotional songs. This is a very holy and devotional event that can be held any time of the year.
Temple priest Gangadhar performed Ganapati, Navagraha and Mata Ji Sankalpam, Abhishekam, and Puja with all the Vedic rituals. Then Mataji’s Akhand Jyoti was lighted with chanting of Langar Vira. Later, Ganpati and Mataji’s Vandanas were chanted in a devotional way. Then came an offering of garlands and Mataji’s red colored Chunni, coconut, fruits, and Shringar. A devotee who sponsored the Jagran performed Aardass followed by offerings. Later, shared Mata Rani Katha was narrated in a story form. After the offering of bhog to Mata Ji, devotees were also served with variety of snacks and hot tea.Ma Bhagwati AaratiSri Durga Temple Group, that included Neeta Jayaraman, Usha Kamal, Shashi Jain, Harsh Walia, and Ajay Sharma sang Mataji’s devotional songs one by one. Aditya Anand, Vijay Mohan, and Hari Shanmugam accompanied the singers with their dholaks and displayed their skills of drum beating .At the end, Mataji’s and Jay Jagadish’s Aarti were performed.
Before the Jagran, Jay Gupta, co-founder of YogaCaps, talked about the benefits of seated therapeutic yoga and Chakra Sadhana. He also taught them how to do meditation and yoga in one’s everyday life to stay energetic and spirited. His YogaCaps is one of the early pioneers in the delivery of therapeutic yoga services. Gupta , a registered pharmacist, specializes in medication therapy management. He shared his scientific understanding of yoga and nature cure practices with everyone and suggested taking them as their “practice” capsules once or twice a day.
