PHAGWARA: Alleging that Punjab government had failed on all fronts and betrayed all sections of society, former Punjab minister and SAD general Secretary Bikram Singh Majithia took to task AICC President Rahul Gandhi, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa for taking people for a ride.
Addressing a ‘Chetna rally’ at Goraya ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Majithia instilled enthusiasm among youths by himself riding a bike to lead cavalcade of spirited bikers before the rally.
Taking potshots at opponents, Majithia alleged that Finance minister Manpreet Badal had made huge efforts to break Akali Dal when the latter was in SAD but Akali workers, especially youths, foiled Manpreet’s sinister designs.
“The state’s fiscal condition is in doldrums. Teachers’ salaries are reduced to ridiculous level. Rs 4000 crore DA amount of employees is due. The recent announcement of 6% DA is a mere announcement as state’s coffers are empty and employees will be betrayed as usual”, he remarked.
He dubbed as white lie CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s claim that 1.13 lakh jobs had been given. “Similarly, farmers are betrayed by Amarinbder Singh government on loan waiver issue”, he alleged.
Interestingly, the poster boy picked by the Congress for its loan waiver scheme, became a hero for SAD after the party brought him for its youth rally at Goraya. The Youth Akali Dal, led by Bikram Singh Majithia, paid Rs 3.86 lakh to Budh Singh after his name did not figure in the government’s beneficiary list even as this farmer of village Kotli Surat Mallian in Dera Baba Nanak of Gurdaspur district was the poster boy of Congress loan waiver scheme.
