NCAIA program committee members, guests and dignitaries

CHICAGO: The National Council of Asian Indian Associations (NCAIA) Chicago Chapter held its inaugural program June 8 at the Northern Illinois University Campus in Naperville, a southwest suburb of Chicago, in order to bring together over 45 active Indian-American community service organizations under one umbrella

In the program, 23 organizations shared their missions and key accomplishments from various sectors such as healthcare, senior welfare, water and environment, education, peace initiatives and International relations, and special services benefiting millions of people in both the US and India.

Indian Consul General in Chicago Sudhakar Dalela was the chief guest and Congressman from the 8th District of Illinois Raja Krishnamoorthi was the guest of honour at the program. The program was sponsored by Dean, College of Business of Northern Illinois University, Balaji Rajagopalan. There were around 180 people in attendance. The organizing committee members included Harish Kolasani, Paul Prabhaker, and Manu Vora.

Kolasani spoke about NCAIA’s history and played a video of national board members from Washington DC. He said the focus of NCAIA’s mission is to empower the Indian community by promoting effective community organizations, community leaders and Indian-Americans who are making a positive impact in the community.

Dalela talked about his experience with NCAIA in Washington DC and his connection with Chairman Harswarup Singh who is a former Indian ambassador. He appreciated the steps taken to promote the organizations directly serving the Indian-American community.

Krishnamoorthi praised NCAIA for bringing 45 organizations and the vibrant audience under one roof.
