OFBJP welcomes Dr Harsh Vardhan in Bay Area

FREMONT, CA: Overseas Friends of BJP Volunteers of Bay Area met Dr Harsh Vardhan, India’s Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, at luncheon on Friday, June 3. Chandru Bhambhra of OFBJP (USA) welcomed him with all the volunteers in an informal setting.

The Minister highlighted the good work done by his ministry in particular, as well as Modi Government in general, over the past two years. As part of Swachh Bharat project, the Minister said that the current government had built 1,92, 000 toilets across India. This was in fact achieved within one year. He said under the current administration, the economy is growing at a fast clip, yet various inflation indices continue to be relatively low.

The Minister thanked OFBJP volunteers for their active support during the 2014 Indian general elections and suggested that the volunteers should remain well-informed about the good work being done by Indian government and keep propagating the same in the right direction. He recollected his own volunteering days from 40 years ago.

The volunteers had many questions about the BJP party, the Government and the upcoming elections etc. Many volunteers spoke during the interaction.

All appreciated the palpable progress being made by Indian Railways and Power Sector, among others.
Shivu Vibhuti appraised the Minister about specific efforts that the group pursued. Mahadev Karadigudda stressed the need for various BJP support groups to be connected. Judhajit said that informing people about various government projects helps people appreciate the efforts of Modi Government. Thippeswamy suggested that the technical expertise of members of Silicon Valley can help the Government and BJP connect with citizens better.

On behalf of the volunteers, Chandru Bhambhra accepted a Book ‘A Tale of Two Drops’ from the Minister. This publication is an interesting and inspiring story about the visionary campaign for Polio eradication in Delhi, which became a model for the rest of the country. The Minister also presented three publications of his ministry for all OFBJP volunteers.

Raj Bhanot, Mahima and Bhriguraj Singh, Sunil Ganu, Dinesh N, Somanjana C, Raghavendran N, and Rajan S.T. were present amongst the volunteers.

The meeting ended with a Vote of Thanks by Chandru Bhambhra who thanked the Minister for taking out time from his busy schedule to meet the OFBJP volunteers.
