Katrina Kaif was the first choice for ‘Half Girlfriend’, which is an adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat novel by the same name and stars Arjun Kapoor in the male lead. However, when things did not work out with the ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ actress, director Mohit Suri got Shraddha Kapoor on board.
While Katrina really liked the script, it was something else that discouraged her from signing on the dotted line.
According to reports, Kat told Mohit Suri that he should cast another actress as she wouldn’t fit the role of a college-going girl, which is the requisite of the script. She also mentioned that she might look older than Arjun. The director was quite impressed by her honesty and respected her decision. He then went on to sign Shraddha as the female lead for the romcom. However, Mohit did mention to Katrina that he hopes to collaborate with her on a project soon.
