Saahas conducts session on domestic violence

Saahas for Cause commemorated Domestic Violence Awareness Month by conducting an informational session “Spotlight on Domestic Violence” on 22nd October. Saahas for Cause was honored to have Pallavi Dhawan, Director of Domestic Violence Policy for LA City Attorney’s office, Ruchi Lamba, Chapter lead for Strive Forward (who also performed for the cause) and Jasmeet Kairam, CPEDV as special guests for the event.

During the event, Saahas showcased different videos in the form of street plays performed by members of the South Asian community. These videos highlighted the types of abuse men and women undergoing domestic violence face. Saahas also discussed how the changes brought about during Covid-19 pandemic have changed the face of the abuse that happens in our community.

The event was also attended by dignitaries like GOPIO -LA President, President of Irvine Temple, Co-Chair LA DMH UsCC subcommittee among others. The event was attended by over 50 individuals from varied ethnicities including Indian, Cambodian, Nepali and American. Saahas for Cause thanks all those who graced us with their presence for the Mauj Mast Sehat October special edition dedicated to raising awareness for Domestic Violence.
