Sufi music Queens ‘Nooran Sisters’ enthrall LPU Students

PHAGWARA: Sufi music queens ‘Nooran Sisters’ – Sultana and Jyoti – performed at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) March 22 holding the students spellbound.
Trained in Sufi music for the past decade, both artistes performed on the Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis stage.
Given the enthusiastic response from the audience, both of them appreciated the admiration of LPU students for traditional music.

Among those present at the event were Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and Member of Parliament, Santokh Singh Chaudhary.
Prior to this, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal welcomed the singing sensations at the campus.
When they performed on the traditional Sufiana Song “Allah Hoo”, everybody the audience underwent a swooning state created by their mesmerising music outpours.

Winners of many prestigious awards’ winners, the singers performed their debut Bollywood song from the film Highway – Patakha Guddi.
They also sang “Duniya Matlab Dee”, “Yaar Di Gali”, “Tung Tung Baje”, “Jugni Kehndi Ae”, and “Rabb da Karam” among others.
Interacting with LPU students, they advised students to be always learners to be successful in life.
Following the Sham Chaurasi Gharana and Mirasi traditions of music, the tremendously talented Sufi music duo presented a number of their other popular songs.
Both sisters are following in the footsteps of their grandmother Bibi Nooran, a well-known singer of her time, after whom they have the sobriquet of Nooran Sisters.
