The Highly Expected Sporting Events this fall for India

9th Edition of Pro Kabaddi

In the 9 months of 2022, we have witnessed the greatest sporting events. Starting from ICC Women’s World Cup, out of 8 nations Australia emerged victorious by defeating England in the finals, followed by IPL T20 ( Indian Premier League ), where debut team Gujarat Titans won the tournament by defeating Rajasthan Royals. 17-year-old Indian Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa created history by defeating world champion, Magnus Carlsen, for the third time in the last six months in international chess tournaments. In the Commonwealth Games India finished in 4th position with 61 medals. (22 Gold – 16 Silver – 23 Bronze) and in Durand Cup, Bengaluru FC under the captaincy of Sunil Chhetri won its first-ever title by defeating Mumbai City FC by 2-1.

For Indian sports fans, 2022 has been a feast and also it has kept the betting punter busy throughout the year. ICC T20 World Cup is a biannual tournament, 2020 edition was called off due to a pandemic and it was hosted by India in 2021, however, the matches were relocated to Oman and UAE. The 2022 edition is going to be participated by 16 nations, playing 45 matches from 16th Oct to 13th Nov.  

Group A: Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, UAE
Group B: Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, Zimbabwe

The qualifying and the runner-up in each group, ie: A1, A2, and B1, B2 teams, will join the 8 teams in the following order.

Group 1: Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, A1, B2
Group 2: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, South Africa, B1, A2.

The Final will be played in Melbourne on 13th Nov.

Kabaddi is a rural sport of India. The KPL – Pro Kabaddi League, has been modeled after India’s famous cricket league, IPL, and soon the Desi Gameable to gain thriving popularity in India and beyond. PKL has witnessed 7 successful and popular seasons.  Due to the pandemic, the 8th edition was played behind the closed doors of a bio secure, single venue in Bengaluru. The 9th edition of the Pro Kabaddi will be played in 3 venues, Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad from 7th Oct to 8th November 2022. There would be 66 league matches and 1 final(TBD).

In season 8, Dabang Delhi wrestled out the Pro Kabaddi League title by eking out, hat-trick winner Patna Pirates in a close shave match of 37-36, to register their maiden championship in the league. Telugu Titans, have qualified for the semi-finals twice, but they have never been able to lift the trophy so far.
