Work of non-violence art contest winners exhibited

Canadian High Commissioner Stewart Beck with the Indian Contest Winners at the India International Ceter

NEW DELHI: With an aim to promote non violence and peace especially towards youth, the Mahatma Gandhi International Foundation (MGIF) conducted several initiatives during the Non-Violence Week. For the fourth consecutive year, MGIF organized an exhibition and contest on the theme of Non-Violence through which the art work from six young artists was selected from Canada, USA, France and India.
On September 30 and October 1, the winners saw their work being exhibited at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Montreal along with the drawings from the artist Suraj Sadan, President MGIF.
Quebec Minister Kathleen Weil, Minister of Cultural Community and Immigration inaugurated the exhibition and presented the awards to young Canadian winners.
From November 6-9, an exhibition on the theme of “Exposition Gandhi et activities culturelles” in collaboration with Gopio Fracophone was presented at the Galerie du Foyer Grenelle in Paris which was inaugurated by French National Secretary of Diversity, Mr. Olivier Stirn.
From December 6-12, an exhibition in association with India Empire magazine was held at India International Centre in New Delhi showcasing the art work of the winners from 2008-2011.
In addition, the three young Indian artists had the honor of receiving their prize money from Canadian High Commissioner to India Stewart Beck.
The Foundation hopes to extend its activities in future in collaboration with the other organizations promoting non-violence.
